Wirt z'Annabrun aka Best Steak Ever!!!!

So growing up in Texas, doing my undergrad in the Midwest, and living in TN for threee years I have grown up eating my fair share of steaks, some being extremely good and others just ok. It is with great pleasure that I tell you I have found the best steak I have ever had in my ENTIRE life, just a mere 35-40 minutes fro Burghausen.

The name of the restaurant is Wirt z' Annabrun. Their address is 4 Annabrun, 84419 Obertaufkirchen. This town consists of 5 farms, a church, and this steakhouse. So needless to say you are only going to know about this place if you live there or someone happens to tell you about it, which lucky for us one of Rob's teammates here did. We went with about 10 of his teammates here this past Saturday, as they are only open on Wednesdays at 6pm for a Schnitzel dinner, Fridays and Saturdays at 6pm for Steak night, and Sunday at 5pm for steak night. The owner previously owned a restaurant in Florida for 5 years, and now is here and specializes in U.S. steaks!

So here is what we had:

-appetizer: a giant tower of Handbattered made to order onion rings, served with a dipping sauce that I can only describe as ranch/sour cream/fresh herbs all mixed into one bowl of addictive goodness. You may just lick the bowl!

-Entrees: I had the Gump's Duo of strip steak and Baby Back Ribs. The ribs were good, but the steak put them to shame!!!! They top all of their steaks with these amazing caramalized onions. It also came with a salad and choice of potato. I got the baked potato or Foilenkartoffel and to my surprise it came abundantly topped with the same addictive dip that was with the onion rings. Best baked potato I have ever had as well!

Rob and one of his teammates decided they were going to get the biggest steak on the menu and see who could eat more of it. He ordered the 1200g Bone-In porterhouse steak with baked potato. It must have been good, because both of them cleaned their plates.

Needless to say we will definitely be going back and highly recommend this place. I recommend getting the onion rings, a steak, and get the baked potato! Here is their website as well: http://www.wirt-annabrunn.de/

Here is a picture of the Gump's Duo of steak and Baby Back Ribs. The ribs had good flavor, but they were more of the braised variety and I prefer mine barbequed on the grill. The steak was definitely the star of the show.
