Wirt z'Annabrun aka Best Steak Ever!!!!

So growing up in Texas, doing my undergrad in the Midwest, and living in TN for threee years I have grown up eating my fair share of steaks, some being extremely good and others just ok. It is with great pleasure that I tell you I have found the best steak I have ever had in my ENTIRE life, just a mere 35-40 minutes fro Burghausen.

The name of the restaurant is Wirt z' Annabrun. Their address is 4 Annabrun, 84419 Obertaufkirchen. This town consists of 5 farms, a church, and this steakhouse. So needless to say you are only going to know about this place if you live there or someone happens to tell you about it, which lucky for us one of Rob's teammates here did. We went with about 10 of his teammates here this past Saturday, as they are only open on Wednesdays at 6pm for a Schnitzel dinner, Fridays and Saturdays at 6pm for Steak night, and Sunday at 5pm for steak night. The owner previously owned a restaurant in Florida for 5 years, and now is here and specializes in U.S. steaks!

So here is what we had:

-appetizer: a giant tower of Handbattered made to order onion rings, served with a dipping sauce that I can only describe as ranch/sour cream/fresh herbs all mixed into one bowl of addictive goodness. You may just lick the bowl!

-Entrees: I had the Gump's Duo of strip steak and Baby Back Ribs. The ribs were good, but the steak put them to shame!!!! They top all of their steaks with these amazing caramalized onions. It also came with a salad and choice of potato. I got the baked potato or Foilenkartoffel and to my surprise it came abundantly topped with the same addictive dip that was with the onion rings. Best baked potato I have ever had as well!

Rob and one of his teammates decided they were going to get the biggest steak on the menu and see who could eat more of it. He ordered the 1200g Bone-In porterhouse steak with baked potato. It must have been good, because both of them cleaned their plates.

Needless to say we will definitely be going back and highly recommend this place. I recommend getting the onion rings, a steak, and get the baked potato! Here is their website as well: http://www.wirt-annabrunn.de/

Here is a picture of the Gump's Duo of steak and Baby Back Ribs. The ribs had good flavor, but they were more of the braised variety and I prefer mine barbequed on the grill. The steak was definitely the star of the show.

Ming's Lounge- Thai food

Ming's is located at Griesstraße 7  84503 Altötting, Germany, and it is definitely worth the 10 minute drive from Burghausen to get there. As someone who is very picky about Thai restaurants, I went in with an open mind after hearing rave reviews about this place from one of my new German friends. Needless to say, this place did not dissapoint.

My friend and I went here for my birthday lunch, and the discovery of this restaurant was a great birthday gift. Thanks Robin! We split an order of Thai Spring Rolls, Ginger Chicken, and their Pad Thai Noodles. All three were delicious; however, when I go back I will find it hard to order anything besides the Pad Thai Noodles. They were my favorite, along with the spring rolls.

So if you have a hankering for some Thai food head to Altötting, unless you don't live in Germany, because then I am sure you can find some good Thai food much closer to home!

Jackson loved the decor at Ming's

Hotel Bayerische Hof

This restaurant is located down in Altstadt. We went their on one of the many recent beautiful days for lunch and sat outside on the patio to eat. The atmosphere was great. The poor waitress though was swamped so it took a little longer to get service, but we did not mind since it was so nice outside. Here they serve your typical German food that you will find at many places. However, I will say their Käsespätzle was the best I have had so far. As for prices, it was reasonable. My Käsespätzle was 7 Euro and came with a salad. It is worth checking out and I recommend going when you can sit outside.

Taverna Corfu- Greek Restaurant

Taverna Corfu is located at Robert-Koch-Straße 98 84489 Burghausen. We have been here twice now. Once with a friend and then last night for my birthday dinner, so needless to say I really liked this place. The food here is amazing, as long as you are not a vegetarian. We got one of their combination plates for 2 both times we have gone. They give you a ton of food, and it is delicious. The combo for two is 22Euros, or you can get a combination plate for one for 10 Euro. They do have cheaper options though of you just wanted gyro with fries for 6-7 Euro. The owner and staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend you check this place out, unless your a vegetarian! :)

This is the combo dinner for Two. You also get to pick to go with it either fries or their rice and green beans. Both are good.

Bäcker Bachmeier

Now this is a bakery chain you will find in many locations, such as right after you check out of most of the major grocery stores here.  The one we went to yesterday morning though is it's own bakery and restaurant and it is located at Marktler Straße 27, 84489 Burghausen. A group of us went there and we ended up all going in on this family breakfast that came with a large bread basket, cheeses, meats, 3 soft boiled eggs, 3 bottomless cups of any hot coffee drink, and 3 glasses of orange juice all for about 20 Euro. Not a bad deal when there are 5 of you, and it was all delicious.

Pizzeria Italy

This is located at Burgkirchener Straße 51, 84489 Burghausen. I went here for lunch one day with my friend Tracey who said this was her favorite Italian restaurant in Burghausen. I am always game for some good Italian, and I have to tell you that the food here was WONDERFUL. I have eaten at DaClaudio's Italian restaurant multiple time and this last time my husband had gotten their lasagna. So when we went here for lunch I had their lasagna to compare the two, and all I have to say is that the Pizzeria Italy's lasagna was the hands down winner! From the homemade noodles they make everyday on site to the flavorful filling, it was delicious. They are very affordable with  my lasagna costing 6,70 euros, and the son, whose name I believe is Anthony, does speak some English and they are super nice.

Mini Pub Doner Kebab

This little place is located right next to the big Edeka on Marktlstr. in the breezeway. When they say Mini they mean Mini. You go in and there are about 5 bar stools and a little register to order at. They speak no English here but you can easily make it work. It is very affordable. It was only 3euro for a kebab. However, I will say it did not compare to the ones from Popeye's Kebabs in Salzburg, but the location is much better. :)
