Now this is a bakery chain you will find in many locations, such as right after you check out of most of the major grocery stores here. The one we went to yesterday morning though is it's own bakery and restaurant and it is located at Marktler Straße 27, 84489 Burghausen. A group of us went there and we ended up all going in on this family breakfast that came with a large bread basket, cheeses, meats, 3 soft boiled eggs, 3 bottomless cups of any hot coffee drink, and 3 glasses of orange juice all for about 20 Euro. Not a bad deal when there are 5 of you, and it was all delicious.
One thing Burghausen in not short on is restaurants. So I have decided to list, critique, and photograph the restaurants we visit to provide visitors, ex-pats, and locals an American's perspective and guidebook of the local eats. Guten Appetit!

Pizzeria Italy
This is located at Burgkirchener Straße 51, 84489 Burghausen. I went here for lunch one day with my friend Tracey who said this was her favorite Italian restaurant in Burghausen. I am always game for some good Italian, and I have to tell you that the food here was WONDERFUL. I have eaten at DaClaudio's Italian restaurant multiple time and this last time my husband had gotten their lasagna. So when we went here for lunch I had their lasagna to compare the two, and all I have to say is that the Pizzeria Italy's lasagna was the hands down winner! From the homemade noodles they make everyday on site to the flavorful filling, it was delicious. They are very affordable with my lasagna costing 6,70 euros, and the son, whose name I believe is Anthony, does speak some English and they are super nice.

Mini Pub Doner Kebab
This little place is located right next to the big Edeka on Marktlstr. in the breezeway. When they say Mini they mean Mini. You go in and there are about 5 bar stools and a little register to order at. They speak no English here but you can easily make it work. It is very affordable. It was only 3euro for a kebab. However, I will say it did not compare to the ones from Popeye's Kebabs in Salzburg, but the location is much better. :)
Hofbrauhaus-Munich
So today we traveled to Munich and had lunch at the World Famous Hofbrauhaus. Yes, it is very touristy and you see lots of people walking around taking pictures (myself included), but it is a must to go and see. In fact I plan on taking everyone who comes over here to visit there. We both had a beer, I had the Hofbrauhaus Original Wurstplatte, my husband had the Scheiben von der geschmorten Schweinshaxir, we got a bread basket (my son loves the pretzels here), and we split an apple strudel. With tip we payed around 35euro. Definitely a must!!!! They do have an English menu here as well.
DaClaudio
So this is the Italian restaurant mentioned in my first blog. We went there for our Thursday night Stammtisch this week. Once again the food was delicious. We had the lasagna and the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara. Both were good, but the Lasagna was better in my opinion. Each only costing around 7euro. My son once again had their french fries with no complaints. They do have an English menu here as well. Also both times we have been there we have seen members of the Burghausen soccer team there. We were able to get a picture with one of them this time.
Golden Moon and Golden Panda
Golden Moon: It is located on Robert-Koch-Straße 15 84489 Burghausen. A group of us went here for dinner one night during the week. Multiple people had mentioned it and it always seemed to have a crowd. It is on the second floor of the shopping center. It is a buffet with a Mongolian grill, but they also have a regular menu. You can stack your plate with all the meat and veggies you want, take it up to them, they cook it, and then bring it to you. The buffet had a pretty decent selection.
Golden Panda: We totally just stumbled upon this place when we were walking one night. We were cold and it was the first open restaurant we came to. It is located at Mehringer Straße 45 84489 Burghausen. They have both a regular menu and buffet as well. They had a much smaller selection, and in my opinion Golden Panda was much better. However, the wait staff here did speak good English and was very nice.

Popeye's Kebobs
So I have no idea the address of this place, only that it is in Salzburg, Austria and is on the main road that takes you into old town if you head to Salzburg from Burghausen traveling the road that has you traveling most of the way in Germany ( I believe it is the B20 you take out of town, but if someone now please correct me). We happen to stumble upon this gem by total accident. After shopping all morning at Ikea we were hungry, and this was one of the first places we came to. All i have to say is if you lie gyros you will love kebobs, and this place had some great ones. I had the kebab and fries, and my husband tried their pizza. Both were great, and I would definitely go back here again!
Restaurant Bayerische Alm
This restaurant is located at Robert-Kock Str. 211, 84489, Burghausen. We have actually been here twice now and loved it both times. It is within the hotel. Not only is the food excellent, but the people who run it are great people and super nice. They serve primarily traditional German/Bavarian food. The two times I have been there I had the Teufels Toast and then a dish can not even remember how to stay, but it was sliced beef and onions in a mushroom cream and lime saude served with spaetzle. Both were delicious. My husband had their kaesespaetzle the first time and the Irish steak with German potatoes the second time. He loved them both! We will definitely be regulars at this place, and I urge everyone to try it if they haven't already!
Restaurants we have been to so far....
I have decided to go ahead and list the restaurants we have already tried with brief descriptions, and as I am sure we will visit them all again at that point I will give them their own posts with photos.
-Mezzos: This is a cafe and wine bar located at Marktler Straße 61 84489 Burghausen
located right next to the train station. We went there for dinner during the week and they had a wide variety of items from pizzas, sausages, schnitzel, and some house specialties. I had the Wienerschnitzel and it was okay....nothing special. I will say this place does get crowded and the night we were there they had multiple tables reserves for groups that night so we had to eat fast. I would definitely go back here though and try something different and not sit at a table where we had to get up at a certain time.
-Da Claudio: This is a Pizzeria and Italian restaurant located at Anton-Riemerschmid-Straße 7 84489 Burghausen. I will keep my description brief on this one as we are going here for dinner on Thursday night and I will be interested to see how it is at dinner time. Previously when I went here it was for lunch. What I will say now though is I did like at lunch they had a special of the day and it came with either espresso or dessert included with it. I got the special of some ttpe of roasted red pepper Schnitzel and it was delicious! I am excited for Thursday!
-Wacker Cafeteria: Ok, so I know this is really not a restaurant but we did eat here and if you are an employee or family member of an employee you can eat here. Now while I have only been here once, my husband eats here everyday during the week and loves it. They have a great variety with specials everyday. When I went I had a pasta dish, my son had a pretzel, and my husband got grilled beef liver with mashed potatoes and toasted onion (Yuck!). I can say though we all loved our meals, so they are doing something right. I definitely plan to go eat here with my son as soon as it warms up some.
-Italian Restaurant on Wacker Straße next to Lotto place: I have to apologize with this one as I have no idea what the name of the restaurant is as we just went there this past Saturday night and at that time I had no plans on writing this blog. We will defeinitely be going back there though so I will get the name and pictures! We decided to try it out because it was so close to our home, and what we found was pure deliciousness!!!!! My husband got a pizza, which he loved. It was a little doughy for me, but I prefer a very thin crust pizza. The sauce and toppings though had great flavor. I got one of their house specialities. It was the only schnitzel on their specialty list, I want to say it was something like Zagren Scnitzel but am not 100% sure. In fact, I was not sure exactly what I would be getting as all I could make out in the description was schnitzel and cheese, but I thought if it has these two things it can't be that bad. (If you have not noticed yet I am a big fan of schnitzels and consider myself somewhat of a conosieur...lol). Well what I got was amazing. It was a schnizel stuffed with black forest ham, multiple cheeses, and Quark (this is a type of cheese/yogurt you will find in a lot of things from items like this to desserts). So basically this was like schnitzel cordon bleu x 10! I will say the side dishes they served with it of french fries, their house italian rice, and a blueberry compote (think cranberry sauce) were interesting, but who really cares when it is served next to that!
-Chilis: So for you Americans this is so not the Chili's Bar and Grill we all love and enjoy back home, well at least I do. It is located at Marktler Str. 5, 84489 Burghausen, and truly provides an ecclectic mix of food. They have pizzas, schnitzel, italian entrees, BBQ chicken wings and potato wedges, Indian food, and the list goes on and on. They also have a happy hour, Indian buffet the last Sunday of the month, breakfast, Breakfast buffet every Sunday morning, and dessert. On this trip here I was yearning for a taste of home and went with the BBQ chicken wings and potato wedges. They tasted nothing like the ones you get back home, but they were really good. They had a little bit of a bite to them, and my son loved their seasoned potato wedges. My husband tried their BBQ ribs and said they were just ok. It is hard to compare though when you've had the ribs from Sweet P's in Knoxville. Yummmmm.....
-Subway: Now this is exactly the same as back home, well almost. There are two locations I have seen: one in Burghausen on Marktler Straße and one in Neuötting. We went to the one in Neuötting. It had pretty much all of the same options and most things were in English and German. They did not have all of the varieites in bread, and the bread was a little different. Also for all you Ranch dressing lovers....there was none of it to be found. However, instead of that I do recommend the Asiago Caesar. It was just as tasty on my Oven Roasted Chicken breast.
There are two other places we have already been to, but I just so happen to take pictures while we were there so I will post them separately. In the chance I have forgotten something I will update this.
